School Halls
School Halls are used for many different purposes and are often versatile, multi-function spaces. At some meetings the hall can be full with over 1,000 people while at others there could be a
single
class of pupils. Designing a system which has all the features
and performance required at the larger meetings yet is so easy to
use that it can be operated by any teacher, requires a unique
understanding of how Schools function and how audio visual systems
operate.Ascobra have special expertise in designing and installing AV systems for School Halls. We've worked with more than 30 Secondary and Primary Schools. We've installed systems in halls which are hundreds of years old, in listed buildings and in brand new builds. We've worked in halls of all sorts of different size and shape, ranging up to 35m long and 10m tall. A number of the halls have more than one role; doubling up as a gym, dining room or public space.
Most projects include a large electric screen at the front, along with a data projector designed specifically for use in a large hall. There can be a way to operate the projector without using the remote control. Often there's a sound system, either based around an existing set up or using completely new audio equipment. This can range from a simple system used to play sound to accompany a film, through to a complex system with a multi channel mixing desk supporting for numerous microphones which is used at drama productions and concerts. If required we can specify a complete stage lighting system with dimmer packs and lighting bars. We've constructed multi-media lecterns where all the equipment can be operated from a panel on the the top of an oak lectern.

Each system takes into account the client's individual needs and the architectural features of the Hall. All provide the performance and facilities required for meetings like Parent Evenings, School assemblies and drama productions when the hall is full, yet are so easy to operate that they can be used by any teacher for lesson teaching. This requires designing a system specifically for the building and the clients needs.
The first stage involves surveying the hall and learning all the different ways it's used. Then we'll produce a detailed report showing how our proposal meets all the requirements in the most cost effective way. The installation is carried out by qualified engineers to the highest standards strictly in accordance with Health and Safety Requirements. Following the installation we go through a detailed hand over procedure along with training for both technical and non technical staff. Over the subsequent years we provide comprehensive support to ensure that everything can be relied on to work relaibly at important meetings.
